Arike Ogunbowale

Arike Ogunbowale was an American pro basketball player with the Dallas Wings of the Women's National Basketball Association. Her name was chosen as the 5th pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings. Arike Ogunbowale was a Milwaukee Wisconsin native born to Yolanda Ogunbowale. There are two brothers: Mario (26 year young) and Dare Ogunbowale (20 years old). Being the youngest of her siblings she was the most loved of her parents. Gregory's dad was in the Nigerian Army. Ogunbowale has a thriving family history. Her brother Dare played football and Yolanda Ogunbowale, her mother was a softball player. Her cousin Endia Ollie also plays Volleyball at Tennessee State. Ogunbowale was on the college's Honour Roll for three years consecutively. Her experience in high school earned her respect and fame. Arike completed her studies at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School in her hometown. While studying at the school, she also played three seasons of football varsity. Ogunbowale's extraordinary abilities helped the school winning spectacular victories repeatedly. The high school season she played in was completed with 73 games, 1,477 career points and 739 career rebound. Ogunbowale played during the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship and 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 Championship where she won gold medals. In July 2014 Ogunbowale was chosen as a part of the USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team. Ogunbowale was also selected to the ACC All-Freshman Team for her first time in a collegiate game. Kobe Bryant even thanked her for launching a series of huge shots during the NCCA Tournament. Ogunbowale, even though she is a relative newcomer to the sport of basketball has already established herself as an elite player. She is certain to succeed in her professional career.
